There were about 40 other exhibitors at the Jump$tart National Educator Conference in DC this weekend. Many were old faces, such as Advantage Publications, which makes the popular financial calculators. A few newer folks included: Moonjar, with a neat habit-inducing product to teach kids to save, spend and share; Lucas Remmerswaal’s 13 Habits that underline the importance of decency, learning, and communication around money; sort of a Stephen Covey meets Warren Buffet project for kids; and BizKids a public television show that highlights entrepreneurial kids.
The Financial Services Roundtable provided a goldmine of a list (compiled with the help of Operation HOPE) of 36 free, comprehensive financial education curricula that exist today. It’s sort of mind-blowing to look at the number of programs, while not even looking at the variety of other financial literacy materials.
